The following links are provided to help answer any questions you may have about copyright laws and also to provide additional resources as needed:

Daniel Donovan, Professor of Legal Studies at CCRI, has compiled a comprehensive Copyrights and Intellectual Property Policy for CCRI that includes CCRI’s Copyright Policies, Copyright Issues for Faculty, Copyright Basics, and other helpful links. Professor Donovan’s work is posted on the CCRI website and is the best place to start for all you copyright questions and concerns.

The National Association of College Stores (NACS) has a helpful Copyright Resources page on their website that includes a Q&A section on copyright issues and a Fair Use Evaluator. NACS also has a letter in a PDF format that can be used when one is seeking copyright permissions.

Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) has an extensive website that can be used to learn more about copyright issues, receive permissions, or to verify copyright coverage of personal work. The website has a short video on the home page that highlights all that is offered.

XanEdu is a company that specializes in working with professors to receive copyright clearance from several different sources and package them together to create customized materials for classroom use.

All major publishers: including Cengage, Pearson and McGraw-Hill, have custom publishing reps that will help put together custom packs for classroom use. Contact the textbook manager at your campus for publisher rep information.
